Whitson String Studio - Group & Private Instruction * Musicians for Hire
"Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness and gaiety & life to everything."      -- Plato
About the Studio

Whitson String Studio is based on the simple philosophy that practice makes progress.Students who maintain a consistent practice routine can learn to play an instrument and will experience progress.  The studio's mission is to provide a positive, fun atmosphere where students are nurtured in the educational, technical & musical skills needed to succeed on their instrument.

Private Lessons offer 1:1 instruction using traditional pedagogy, classical repertoire, Suzuki songs, Fiddle tunes & popular songs with informal performance outlets.  A variety of teaching styles are used and adjusted to blend with each student's changing goals & needs.  An introductory tuition discount is available to new students.

Group Lessons offer same instrument instruction in a group setting for students curious about learning to play a string instrument. They receive a simple introduction on positioning & playing with the goal of progressing to 1:1 instruction. Classes based on availability.

Debut Strings is a program for multiple instruments offering string players an introductory experience to playing in an orchestra. One year of private instruction and the ability to sightread unfamiliar music is required. Classical music, popular songs and fiddle tunes are introduced in 3 - 4 part harmony where students also learn to build basic team & leadership skills. A brief intro to theory and conducting from a score are also included. Program subject to availability.

Adobe Strings provides the public with professional musicians available for hire as a Duo, Trio or Quartet for all types of  occasions.  Please contact the studio for availability.

Whitson Chamber Music Workshop (2003-2013) gave young string players a first-hand experience playing in duos, trios, quartets & small chamber ensembles. WCMW collaborated with the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Harmony Project, Harper Performing Arts' Chamber Music Academy and Festival Mozaic.  WCMW's conservatory-trained staff perform with the nation's top symphony orchestras and Hollywood's movie, studio recording & TV industries.
